Literary sources tell a far more dramatic memory of the conflict. According to these accounts, as Balwant Singh’s army advanced and Rasra was engulfed in flames, nearly '''400 Rajput women''' of the Sengars’ households committed ''jauhar'' (the collective act of self‑immolation) within the precincts of the '''Nath Baba Mandir'''. Choosing death unlike the previous Rajput clan of Chandel which gave princess to ''Raja'' Balwant Singh as a concubine, they entered the flames together, an act remembered as one of the most tragic episodes of Rajput history in the region. There are hundreds of memorial stones still present in the temple complex near the kund.  Today, the site remains a cultural landmark, where oral traditions and surviving monuments keep alive the story of the women who chose death over dishonor.
